Psalm 1:1-2 says,
1 Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
There are many messages today about how a blessed person lives. Some would tell you that a person whom God blesses lives a financially rich life. Others would tell you that a person who is blessed by the Lord experiences physical health. But, God’s Word tells us here that the person who is blessed delights in the law of the Lord and meditates on it day and night.
What a contrast! One group says you are blessed because God gives you health and wealth, while God’s Word says you are blessed because you live in a way that pleases God by knowing and obeying His Word.
The Word blessed is similar to the word Happy. So, happy is the person who delights in the law or Word of the Lord. Yes! This makes sense when compared to reality. Riches don’t really make us happy, and health doesn’t make us happy. But, God… he satisifies us and fills us with an inexpressible joy. So, be blessed today…
- Stop and read through God’s Word, meditate on it, and then delight in it!
- Read through Titus because that it is our current sermon series
- Read all of Psalm 1
- Delighting in God’s Word means you follow it. So, walk or live in a way that is faithful to God’s Word.
- Remind yourself all day, riches and health never bring satisfaction, but knowing God and living with Him and for Him is the greatest blessing there is.
I look forward to growing on the go with you again tomorrow.
