Be a witness in the waiting

Confirmation bias has taken over the country. This happens when people look for the evidence they need to support their position/theory. It’s even happening as people disagree with one another use Scripture to support their varying perspectives. Confirmation bias is not the way of Christ, truth is, and right now we just don’t know everything we want to know.

God’s people are not prone to speculation or unverified accusations. It’s not ok for us to spew theories or use our words about things we don’t know for sure. Why? Because there are consequences from God for saying things that aren’t true.

Proverbs 12:17 CSB
[17] Whoever speaks the truth declares what is right, but a false witness speaks deceit.

Proverbs 19:5 CSB
[5] A false witness will not go unpunished, and one who utters lies will not escape.

Proverbs 19:9 CSB
[9] A false witness will not go unpunished, and one who utters lies perishes.

Proverbs 25:18-19 CSB
[18] A person giving false testimony against his neighbor is like a club, a sword, or a sharp arrow. [19] Trusting an unreliable person in a difficult time is like a rotten tooth or a faltering foot.

Christians speak the truth because they are aware of the consequences of bearing a false witness against someone else.

Don’t react until the dust settles. Patience is a characteristic of Christianity.

Proverbs 16:32 CSB
[32] Patience is better than power, and controlling one’s emotions, than capturing a city.

Colossians 3:12 CSB
[12] Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,

When the dust settles, respond to whatever the results of the election are with grace, and trust that Romans 8:28 is true.

Romans 8:28 CSB
[28] We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.

Act like the ambassador of Christ that you are, in hopes that your actions and your words can be used to draw people to God.

2 Corinthians 5:20 CSB
[20] Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf: “Be reconciled to God.”

We have an opportunity to care deeply for our country, while at the same time serving as a light for Christ in the uncertainty of the moment. Let’s make the most of both.

  1. Amen brother. Great scriptural advice as we should look to God’s Word in all things. How we should live.
