Stay in your lane

Sitting on the beach is a humbling moment. The expanse of the water as far as the eye can see reminds me that I am small. Being small doesn’t mean that I am not important, but it does remind me of my place. Like Job, I had nothing to do with setting the boundaries for the sea or the clouds in the air. And, much like Job, I need to be reminded of my place.

My place is to trust and obey the One who made the sea and set its boundaries. My place is to follow the One who commanded the wind and the waves to stop.

Job 38:8-11 CSB[8] Who enclosed the sea behind doors when it burst from the womb, [9] when I made the clouds its garment and total darkness its blanket, [10] when I determined its boundaries and put its bars and doors in place, [11] when I declared: “You may come this far, but no farther; your proud waves stop here”?
