Social media is working against you

Monday morning quick thought:

Social media is working against you in ways you might not notice.

1 Samuel 16:7 CSB
[7] But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or his stature because I have rejected him. Humans do not see what the LORD sees, for humans see what is visible, but the LORD sees the heart.”

In a world that looks at the outward appearance, be mindful that social media is built to help you focus on what others think.

Before you post, ask some of these questions:

1. Do these words honor the Lord and demonstrate my faith in Him?

2. Do these words build others up, or tear them down?

3. Is this something that I should talk to God about instead of posting it publicly?

David is an awesome example of what it looks like to have a heart for God. But, having a heart for God isn’t about feelings, it is about character.

Today it is common place for people to unload all of their thoughts and concerns to the public via social media. But, is this really the way God would have us to handle our concerns? David was one of the most attacked and criticized men in the Bible. Yet, David took his criticisms and his concerns to the Lord, not to others… much less to the public.

If you want to cultivate a heart for the Lord, then take your cares, your concerns, and even your criticisms to Him in prayer… not to social media. Pray about it, when you pray about it God will do at least 1 of 3 things:

1. He will change your heart

2. He will change the situation

3. He will sanctify you through the process
