Colossians 3:17 (ESV)
“17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Your faith in Christ impacts and influences everything that you do.
You have to fight against the compartmentalization of your faith. What I mean is that you must resist the idea that your faith is a small part of a bigger picture called your life. This happens when something other than Jesus is at the center of your life. This happens when you are the center of your life.
Picture a bicycle wheel with a center hub and lots of spokes coming out. When you are the center of your life, then everything you do, whether word or deed is done in your name. In this scenario, Christianity or your faith is just one spoke of many that make up your life.
But, when Jesus is at the center, all the different pieces of your life, everything including your words and your deeds are done in His name. This is what it means to be a Christian- for your whole life to be about what God wants.
So, as you go about your day today:
- Do everything you do in the name of the Lord Jesus.
- Say everything you say in the name of the Lord Jesus.
And, let your attitude or disposition be one of thankfulness to God because of His love for you in Christ.
There is never a day where we are not humbled, thankful, and joyful because of the salvation God has brought to us through Christ.
