5.2.17 Growing on the Go- Episode #7

Welcome to Growing on the Go! Helping you live on mission today Tuesday, May 2, 2017.

Lamentations 3:24 (ESV) says,

24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”

God is enough. This verse can be understood as saying the Lord is really all I have. This truth reminds us that we don’t place our hope and our trust in our own efforts, circumstances, or belongings.

You will always be faced with the temptation and opportunity to find your hope in something other than the Lord. Your identity is connected to what you find your hope in. Your hope is your refuge, your rock, your source of strength or confidence for the day. Your hope is what keeps you going, it’s what you lean on and look back on in the midst of struggle. Whatever or whoever you hope in is foundational to your identity.

You can hope in your efforts by finding your identity in your accomplishments and successes will buy you favor with the Lord.

You can hope in your circumstances by finding your self-worth and identity in how other people treat and how you feel each day.

You can hope in your belongings by finding your sense of value as a person in the amount of money you have, the size of your home, the type of car you drive, the gadgets and toys you buy, and the brands of clothes you can afford.

But, the truth is that only God is enough, and those who understand that find their hope and their identity in the love of God and His faithfulness.

Evaluate your life today. Are you hoping in your efforts, circumstances or belongings?

Trust in God. Find your comfort in the love He has for you. Find your identity in the fact that by faith in Christ you are adopted into the family of God and you belong you Him. You are His, and He is your portion. When everything in your life is said and done, you too can say that the Lord is really all you have. He is enough; in fact He is more than enough. Live today for Him.

I’ll see you next time as we continue Growing on the Go.
