5.1.17 Growing on the Go- Episode #6

Welcome to Growing on the Go! Helping you live on mission today Monday, May 1, 2017.

It’s Monday morning. Which is really just another day, but after the weekend it can be a bit of a drag. But, as you get your day started today let’s look at Lamentations 3:22-23.

Lamentations 3:22–23 (ESV)

22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;

23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

The passages leading up to these verses are filled with despair and suffering. For the author of Lamentations, the truth of God’s steadfast love provides hope in the midst of despair, suffering, and affliction. We find here that faith is not dependent upon our circumstances but upon the love and faithfulness of God.

These verses are the inspiration for the hymn, Great is Thy Faithfulness. The chorus to this hymn says:

“Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided

“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!”

Three things to know from our passage today:

  1. God’s love for you never ceases
  2. God’s mercy for you will never end
  3. God’s faithfulness is great.

Let these truths undergird and encourage you throughout your day. In Christ, God has demonstrated the depth of His love for you. In Christ God has made a covenant with you resulting in the forgiveness of your sins, the salvation of your soul, and the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Your hope as a Christian is not in what today feels like or even how the events of your life unfold- your hope is in the love, mercy, and faithfulness of God to keep His promises to you. Therefore, live today for Him.

Ill see you tomorrow as we continuing Growing on the Go.
