4.28.17 Growing on the Go- Episode #5

Welcome to Growing on the Go! Helping you live on mission today Friday April 28, 2017.

As the weekend approaches something happens in your heart and mind. You begin to think and day dream about all the things you want to do before Sunday night is over. The weekend is your time! It’s time for family, friends, personal projects, hobbies, relaxing, etc. In the lyrics of Loverboy, an 80’s rock band, “Everybody’s working for the weekend.”

But, surely there is more to life for you then living for the next 48 hours… As you wind down the work-week and move into the weekend I’d like to direct your attention to Psalm 95:1-6.

Psalm 95:1–6 (ESV)

“Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Oh, come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!”

As a Christian make sure that your weekend is centered around the worship of the Lord. Like it says in verse 3, He is a great God, and a great King above all gods. He alone made the mountains and lakes that you enjoy. He alone made the backyard you are planning to grill in tomorrow. He alone is worthy of worship and praise.

So, do these two things this weekend:

  1. Be mindful of how great God is as you enjoy your time with your family and friends.
  2. Commit today to gathering with your church family on Sunday morning to sing to the Lord and make a joyful noise to the rock of your salvation.

Have a great weekend focused on the worship of our great God and I’ll see you next time as we continue Growing on the Go.
