Growing on the Go- Episode #2

We started a new sermon series Sunday April 23 on the book of Titus. The theme of our sermon series is discovering the blueprint for an effective evangelistic church. One of the application points was to pray for those you know who are lost and in need of the gospel.

Paul writes in 1 Timothy 2:1-4,

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Prayer is an essential part of our relationship with God. But, many Christians struggle with what to pray about. In this passage God gives us clear direction for how we can pray for those who are outside the church, and even for those who are opposed to the Gospel message.

Paul instructed Timothy that we should pray for all people, even for those who make life hard for Christians. The reason for this is in verse 4- God desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth- and that is the truth of Christ.

So, to live a peaceful, quiet, godly life we must pray for everyone- and this is good and pleasing in the eyes of our Lord and Savior.

So… As you go today, be intentional with your prayer life by pausing and praying:

  1. Thank God for the grace that He has shone you and the salvation He has given you by faith in Jesus Christ.
  2. Pray for those you know who are lost by name
  3. Pray for those who are in leadership in our church, community, state, and country.
  4. Pray for God to use New Union to share the Gospel this week everywhere we go.

I’ll see you next time as we continue growing on the go.
